City gets Go Ahead from TCEQ
November 11, 2010
Public Works Director Dan McGraw received word from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) that it has granted permission to the City of Meadows Place to run a line from it's Type 1 Reclaimed Water facility down to the new lake in the park. Mr. McGraw was pleased as this will allow the city to fill the 2,000,000 gallon lake without having to pay any fees to the Subsidence District . This will also enable the City to use this reclaimed water for irrigation and plant operations-saving the City tens of thousands of dollars each year and enable the city to move forward with its plans for the new recreation area and lake in the park.
Parks Director Terry Modeland Retires
October 1, 2010
Long time Parks Co-Director Terry Modeland retired on Oct. 1, 2010. Terry worked for the City for twenty years but she and her husband recently moved to their "retirement home" up on lake Conroe and said "the drive is killing me". Terry worked hard to help take our parks from barren open fields to the outstanding Parks System we now enjoy. Co-Director, Monya Keenen, who has also worked here for twenty years, will be staying on and assuming the role of Parks Director. Terry has been instrumental in the City of Meadows Place being the only city in Texas to be awarded four (4) Small Communities Grants by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Terry will be sorely missed for the joy, energy and expertise she brought to the city and though she will be sad to leave, she "looks back at what the City, and especially the Parks Department, have accomplished with both pride and satisfaction". She will be missed by residents and staff alike.
